M.S. COURSE IN COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
(M.S)

We have been offering M.S. Course as a residential programme during the first few years. There were fervent requests from the candidates to offer this course through correspondence and contact class. Hence the Executive Committee has decided to do this through correspondence so as to encourage and impart advanced counselling knowledge and skills regarding Counselling & Psychotherapy. to those who are interested.

a   Theory Papers
 


The duration of the course is two years. following are the theory papers of study in the first year:

I Year

1. MSA Personality Development
2. MSB Psychology of Adjustment
3. MSC Psychopathology
4. MSD Techniques and Methods of Counselling
5. MSE Marriage and Family Counselling
     
 

As the first two papers deal with the fundamentals of Psychology, even those without a previous background in Psychology can follow these course materials without any difficulty.

b   Field Work
 


Participants are expected to practice Counselling and Psychotherapy with individuals in need of help. Verbatims are to be written and sent to IBMS for supervision and comments for further improvement. At least 10 verbatims need to be written - five in each year. Marks are awarded for the same.

   
c   Personal Contact Class Programmes (P.C.P.s)
 

Personal Contact Class Programmes will be arranged according to the availability of Participants at each Centre. It is important that all need to attend and benefit from the P.C.P.s. It will give a good orientation and familiarity with the theory papers as well as Practical application of the Theory learned. Marks are awarded for attending the above Programmes.
